Fox Prepares For Super Bowl Streaming Challenge

UPDATED: This year’s Super Bowl will again stream live online for free, and for 2017 Fox Sports will include local ads dynamically inserted based on where a viewer is watching the NFL’s championship contest. If you want to stream the Super Bowl from outside of the US, you have some options depending on the region you’re in. In Canada you’ve got CTV , in the UK you can watch it on the BBC (free) or Sky (paid), Austraila has Seven Network and Foxtel and in New Zealand, you’re also looking at our old friend Sky While these all support live-streaming in some capacity, I can’t guarantee which will support what Android devices —Super Bowl 52 live stream if you live in one of those regions, you’ll have to check it out yourself.

If you are in the US, that’s a no-brainer, Verizon will stream the Super Bowl LII (as well as a host of other NFL games) live via its vast online properties including Yahoo Sports Mobile users, regardless of their networks, will be able to watch it for free via the dedicated Yahoo Sports apps ( Android , iOS ).

On mobile it can be streamed via the Yahoo Sports app In December, Verizon and the NFL reached a new deal to more widely distribute NFL content across mobile platforms, so the Super Bowl will be available on Yahoo Sports for the first time this year.

Although the picture quality is better when you can watch it on the free over-the-air HD signal, and I live in a major city where the over-the-air HD signal should be plenty strong, my flimsy cheapo rabbit ears have never managed to pick up the local CBS channel.

We reached out to some of our friends on the audio-video enthusiast site AVS Forum and they pointed out that when Fox streamed the Super Bowl last year, some members reported that the online feed was several minutes behind Fox’s over-the-air broadcast.
