Dubai Design Week will be running from the 13th until the 18th of November in 2017.
This annual design event started in 2015 and is held at the Dubai Design District every autumn.
Owned and operated by Art Dubai Fair (The Art Dubai Group), Dubai Design Week was built to be a platform for the UAE to become a major player in the world of design and to showcase the talent from Dubai and the UAE’s designer community.

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Design Week was created to facilitate the development of design and innovation in Dubai the Dubai Design Week will push the boundaries of form, function and aesthetics. International and regional designers will be coming to Dubai to showcase how design can impact our lives in a multitude of ways.

Dubai Design Week will be hosting the Global Grad Show, which is the largest gathering of students from the best design schools in the world from over 40 countries. This international exhibit will show the best of the best under three key themes of, ‘Connect,’ ‘Empower,’ and, ‘Sustain.’ The Global Grad Show will present over 200 graduate projects in the 2017 edition of this annual project.
Dubai Design Week is supported by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, which was launched in 2008 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai to encourage growth and expansion of the city’s cultural and artistic landscape.
Another supporter of the Dubai Design Week is Meraas, who operate and develop diverse, high quality urban destinations and build exciting places across food, travel, retail, health, tech and education.
The final supporters of Dubai Design Week are the Audi Group (Audi, Ducati and Lamborghini). One of the most successful manufactures of automobiles and motorcycles, Audi is committed to the expansion of the region’s cultural and artistic values and committed with the foundation of its fully owned subsidiary in 2005.
Dubai Design Week will be free for all who attend and will encompass the Downtown Design trade fair from the 14th of November until the 17th of November. At the Downtown Design trade fair, international brands from around the world will be on display and you’ll be able to have a meet and greet with fellow designers, meet industry professionals or just enjoy browsing some of the amazing designs on offer.
A real chance for some cultural enrichment if you’re not that into design and fashion or, if you’re already big on design, it’ll be one of the best events you could attend all year. And, for free? Definitely worth the trip!
